Incorporating the East Wales 10k Championships

207 runners of all abilities finished this race, the East Wales 10km championship
event for 2008, in the sunshine of South East Wales.
Andrew Hussey of Cheltenham and County Harriers was the eventual winner in 33 minutes
and 31 seconds, after a thrilling sprint finish with second placed Paul Richards of Neath
Harriers. Third in was Bridgend's Tim Lewis with a time of 34:22.
It wasn't a long wait for the leading lady - Amy Chalk of Bristol and West was fourth
overall in a time of 34:37. Second was Chepstow's own Sam Mulligan (40:58) and third was
another Chepstow runner, Lorna Shaw (42:15).
Special mention must go to Penarth & Dinas runner Andrew Palmer, a T44 category runner,
who completed the course in a world-class 38 minutes and 55 seconds, apparently the second
quickest recorded time for this category of athlete in 2008. Congratulations Andrew (and
thanks for helping to prove what a quick course this is)!
Thank you to all who ran or helped out and also to Undy FC for hosting the event and
providing BBQ and bar facilities.
