Rack Raid Relay
Sunday 31st May 2009
Another great day this year - with a very close competition. Our teams both performed well, however
this year Fairwater & Pontypridd fielded strong teams ,and whilst the 'A' team's overall time was similar to
last year following a close battle Pontypridd took first place just 3 minutes ahead of Fairwater who were only 4 minutes
ahead of us. Meanwhile Fairwater also fielded a strong B team who successfully took away our B team crown! Well done all.
This year we had 2 stage wins - one of which being the first ever overall stage win by a lady!!! Marianne had a very strong finish
to take the Stage 11 win (Caldicot to Penhow)
Thanks to the team captains and all who took part, must try harder next year!
RESULTS HERE.
Big thanks to Fairwater for putting on such a great event - here's to next year.
Sunday 8th June 2008
Congrats to all team members in the 2008 Rack Raid Relay. Our teams won both the A and B competitions,
while we had six stage wins - Dave Somersall, Mark Harvey, Ed Green, Nick Davis, Steve Harris and
Calum Cheshire.
Captains Mark Harvey and Syd Wheeler thank their teams for a marvellous effort.
And here's a link to the results.
Many thanks, once again, to Fairwater for putting on such a great event - it's a highlight of the year!
Sunday 3rd June 2007
Both Chepstow Harriers teams came away with the Winner’s trophies in 2007’s Rack Raid Relay race.
Over the thirteen stages of the event linking castles and historic
monuments throughout Monmouthshire, the A Team won a record eight
of the races, along with two seconds and two thirds. Harriers’ winners
were Gareth Creed, Martin Pengilly, Mark Harvey, Luke Malarz, Phil
Matthews, Nick Davis, Ivan Teed and Ed Green. Steve Caldwell and
Matthew Lawson were second on tough stages, while Nathan Reeks and
Andy Ost were our third-placers.
Notable B Team performances came from Judith Llewellyn who was
third on the Chepstow to Caldicot stage, Vanessa Lawson, Jane Green
and Ian Wade fourth in their stages and Geoff Cram fifth in his.
Brilliant performances considering they were up against other Clubs’
A Team runners
News flash: Cornelly Striders were disqualified
from the event for fielding ineligible runners. As such Steve Caldwell is
promoted to stage winner (congratulations!)
Full official results can be found on the Fairwater Runners website.
